As the precursor awards continue unabated through the month of December, I’m going to be providing a weekly update highlighting the films that have won and lost momentum through the precursor awards (this will be in place of my prior weekly article “Oscar Preview”. Today, we look back at the results of the New York…

The accolades for Zero Dark Thirty continue to roll in. Anne Hathaway’s awards traction has finally begun, though it may be short-lived if other groups decide it’s not the kind of film for them. ParaNorman picks up another Animated Feature award and Philip Seymour Hoffman nabs his first. Award Tallies (3) Zero Dark Thirty (2)…

It’s strange that after all of this attention on Emmanuelle Riva that her name doesn’t appear on the Best Actress slate. They saw the film or it wouldn’t be in the Foreign Language race, but hers wasn’t included. Was it a decision not to highlight her without being able to recognize her co-star Jean-Louis Trintignant…

A brand new awards group (I didn’t think there were any more to make) based in Boston, mirroring the online version of the New York critics. A few new entries are included, but this is largely a carbon copy of other groups with some very interesting selections in their top ten list. Award Tallies (4)…
